I'll cut this short so I don't bore you all !
My foal basically tried to jump a fence post, this impacted her stomach which ruptured causing a hernia. This then in turn caused impacted colic & choke/pneumonia!
She was given a 10/20% chance of surviving surgery. Thankfully she's come through this and we're on the last few weeks of box rest!
Im now scared of turning her out as the hernia was inbetween her inner thigh/teets and with the slippy mud I don't want to chance her re-ripping! I'm also scared for her stomach rupture, as the vet told me it was like a bomb had gone off in there and there was little muscle to knit together! The scar from her "colic type" surgery has healed nicely and i'm a little less concerned about this.
I'm looking for any positive stories of previous experiences of either the hernia/rupture and that normal turnout eventually did resume?? and nothing has occured to the location site since??
