Hi,

I was just wandering what symptoms people see in their horses that have suspected stomach ulcers, or is it particular to each horse?

thank you v much in advance

S

All horses may react differently depending on their temperament and pain threshold, but in my experience ranging from colic, box walking, wood chewing, wind sucking, general grumpiness, tender to the sides and belly, face pulling, discomfort when girthing.

Hope this helps

My mare has just been diagnosed with stomach ulcers and she had the following symptoms;

noticeable change in behaviour
grinding her teeth when stood in
rushing her food
eating hay then food then hay
poor coat condition
when girthing up she almost tried to kill me
very noticable change to poor performance.

From this i called the vet, got her scoped andshe was prescribed gastroguard. Word of warning make sure your insurance covers vets fees before you start the process. Mine wasn't and now my purse is empty!!!

Feel free to pm me if you need any further info
