Hello! My mare has started stomping her back feet hard on the ground. Any ideas why? She has slight swelling around her the back of her fetlock. I had the chiropractor out last week as she was due her check up. She had no idea what swellings were. She is 100% sound. Am I worrying unduly?

Is the swelling soft? What level of work is she doing? Is the stomping worse at particular times of the day or before/after exercise/turnout?

The stomping is normally a symptom of pain or discomfort and the swelling sounds like windgalls- have you been doing hard or fast work recently? Or working on hard ground?

She has no feathers at all (i got slightly scissor happy!!) Her work load hasn't changed much at all. Work in a sand school and gently hacking on more sand. I will get some frontline spray to be safe. Thank you! xx

I would agree with others prob due to being itchy. Frontline is good but listerine antibacterial mouthwash diluted and sprayed onto freshly washed legs also helps my girly when she gets itchy legs and it works out a lot cheaper than frontline.
