Hi, has anyone dealt with stoneways for a stolen tack claim. I have had all of mine stolen. Do they give you a cheque or buy the stuff for you? What does market value mean?

This also means I am on the look out for a new (2nd hand saddle) 17inch mw I think dressage and jumping - any ideas?

They will send you a cheque for the current market value of the goods you had stolen. The current market value is the average cost of the same product at the time of theft.

It's the market value taking into account age and wear and tear. This will be subject to average and also whether there is a single article limit on your policy. If you haven't specified items that may be worth more than the single article limit then that's the max you will get for that item (ie if the single article limit was £400 but you had a saddle - unspecified - at say £800, you would only be eligible to a maximum of £400 for that saddle).

Sorry I wasn't very clear, thanks for explaining better ladyT

Thanks guys! Do you know how long it takes to go through on average? I need to replace stuff but dont want to over spend!!

Will depend on individual companies and how quickly you can send through a list of items stolen along with receipts (if possible) for the higher valued items. Tack claim don't usually take too long but - as no doubt will have already happened - they will send a loss adjuster to check the security where the tack was kept was adequate. This does of course add to the time
