Has anyone ever done this?
I'd never heard of this till YO showed me after vet recommended it. It's holding a wet hot towel (it's soaked in a iodine mix) over a wound to soften lumps/clean gunk/soften scabs. It's amazingly effective, but wondering if anybody else does it?

Sounds like a great idea, but no I've never done it. My vet loves an old fashioned solution though, bet he would recommend if we needed to..

I've done it on myself (with just plain hot water, or with a bit of Dettol in), on wounds that have been gunky and scabby. Works well to clean up the area and get rid of the bad stuff to leave a clean wound to heal. Didn't know it had a proper name, though over here 'steeping' is a word for leaving things to soak, so maybe a variant of that (I love local terminology).

Lol, I had to ask YO what she meant exactly by stooping - I was very confused! I had visions of me hot tubbing a chest lump & thigh, and tying to work out how :p I am definitely impressed on how effective it is, is helping the area immensely. Steeping makes much more sense than stooping, but again I would have been wondering how to get a bucket to steep the area lol.

Bill is better, although is definitely not impressed with being in yard when it's such nice weather! Had all but 3 stitches taken out yesterday, the 3 are over the large part of the wound which hasn't quite closed yet. vet is impressed that he's sound!

Yeah it wasn't a pretty picture to see, I was shocked when I first saw him!! Couldn't believe the damage.
Other wounds healing & starting to grow hair which is great. I've been hand grazing him everyday and he's very impatient to get going when I arrive at yard.
I had thought That maybe I should get some little pc's up to see stitched wounds & general first aid teaching, and even practice their bandages but it's not very fair on big Bill :p

Congratulations to your vets for getting stitches to hold in that area :) Would have been a much longer job if you had to wait for secondary healing :(

Are there any PC tests being trained for at the moment?? Potential testees should def get to see an honest to goodness yucky gunky wound..
