Here we go....its that February feeling! Same every year, although it gets harder each winter.

All I seem to do is feed horses, clean up after them, sweep up, cover myself in hay, bring them in, put them out, do the school run, go to work, back to school, back to work....I feel like a hamster on a wheel! lol Riding? what's that?......not enough daylight hours in the day.

Oh the joys....how are you all doing? Its lovely today, the sun is shining and its so calm...but I have to go to work. Roll on lighter nights, warmer weather, dry fields and my brand new trailer being delivered!

I feel your pain!! But given I am once again in plaster to my knee for the second time in a year I would change places with you in a heartbeat!!
Before I bust my leg again I was up at six and on the yard (lucky enough to have our own place) Feed nags, walk dogs, feed dogs, put out two, muck out two, sweep up, in showered and out for 7.30. Work till 2.00 , back in, muck out the remaining two, skip out the two left in, sweep up (again) fill water buckets, fill enough nets for 24 hours, walk dogs again, clear sand school of poo and loose haylage, bring in, feed, then back out to work 4.00 until 6.30. Collapse!!!
OH does the 9 0clock check water and nets and am in bed for 9.30 until 6.00 until I do it all again!!
I am now having to pay a friend to do it all for me. She is the cheapest labour out but at a tenner a day I feel so bad.
Broke leg at work (as I did a year ago and they denied liability) Bit more clear cut this time and I will go to court this time for lost wages and payment for someone to do mine!!
Its all down hill to Spring!!

If it makes you feel any better we have the same too! Endless mud trudging, dark yard visits, mucking out and hay/bedding bills! No time to ride as during any light hours I'm at bloomin' work! Miss riding my mare, miss lessons and schooling and miss planning outings. No school at the yard so no hope of keeping them going through the winter, don't like it though!

On the plus side though, it is slowly getting lighter!! It is now at least light when I leave work, even if it doesn't last until I get to the yard!

Oh bless Frozzy, not an easy time. Mobility and independence is everything isn't it.

Yes it is getting lighter thankfully. I've got my own place which I love but there is no one to share the work...that's the down side. I normally end up at work looking like Worzel Gummidge.....lol. Thankfully I'm the manager and work with some fab people. After 14 years, they hardly even notice what a scruff I am.

I have a youngster too who is rising 3 this time round and I'd like to introduce him to a few things soon...again weather and light dependant! I'll never complain about the sun and dusty fields again. lol

I feel much like you. I am so sick of soaking and carting heavy haynets, poo picking in the mud and mucking out. Today it is snowing and wet again. I did get out last night and long rein my boy after the kids had gone to bed but it just makes for such a late night. I would just like a little taste of spring pleeeeeeaaaase!

If only I had a magic wand! lol I work two nights a week as I'm a youth work manager, so those day can be long and exhausting. Plus the main part of my job is fund raising and I've just completed a huge lottery bid so you can imagine the amount of info they needed for that.

Thinks should calm down a bit now and I hope to get some riding done next week as schools are off. Saying that heavy snow is forecast in Cumbria on Sunday. So today the sun is helping to dry the fields up a bit and Sunday will totally undo all of that.....smashing!

Get in line,we cant all jump at once.

If we all did that from the same point at the same time we could push the world off its axis. I hate the cold, snow ice and the hairy mud montsers but would I do it differently well no probably not. If we could move GB to Hawaii with its 80 degree all year round weather and rain at night sun in the day what a wonderful place it would be as we wouldnt need to worry about the volcanos.
Love the UK just not too keen on winter

I managed 2 rides this week and was just finding my riding mojo again but have now been informed we are due loads of snow on Sunday. Noooooooooooooooo... I don't want more snow... does winter go on this long every year???
