Yes, causing major pill ups from the ones behind, but most instead of going round or going to the back, turn and try again for the horse to stop again!

Rosiie - Finn does exactly the same thing! Sheenster can be heard screaming in pure Dagenham "Comiiiing throoough" before attempting to avoid pony jumping lol!

Have seen many horses stopping hunting and it really annoys me when they don't just move out the way or carry on past if poss. rather than representing a million times :(

I had one stop on my mare, that was it- her saying she had done enough hunting for her lifetime.
My coloured will take down anything in his path to the jump, ponies bums and the rest :D

Lots of horses stop in every Hunt in the country. I dont think if you were to ask every hunt they couldhonestly say that they had never seen a horse stop.
In our hunt you are only allowed 3 attempts & then find an allternative route to stop churning up the lovely farmers land that we are on!

Yes - complete numpty stopped to the right and in front of me. I shouted out to watch out and he turned his pony across the fence right in front of me........ being 110% committed to fence I then became 110% committed to bailing out! My horse won't jump other ponies! (quite thankful really!) Also, had a day out with another harrier pack in the region and there was a ram running around in the field, in front of the jump, rails over a ditch into a wood. The ram obviously put a few horses off but I was surprised at the number of people who repeatedly put their horses at the jump at short range and ended up in the ditch time and time again with horses nose on the rail. Gradually they all went off through the gate and we who had hung back picked our moment. Gave our Whips horse a lead too and went on to enjoy several other fences through the woods. Very pleased with my neddy that day!

Yes our hunt has a few. I wouldn't mind if they kept tothe back of the field, as they know their horses stop, but they go to the front and hold everyone up. If one decides to stop in front of me, my horse will either barge threw them and jump it or (slightly more dangerous) jump the wire or hedge to the side of the jump- my brakes fail when approaching a jump!

I've never been out hunting and not seen loads of people having stops.
I didn't realise it was such a rareity.
With the Heythrop we do get fairly good sized fields though.

Yep my mare has stopped out hunting (the cowbag!!), she used to do it when we first started hunting because she wasnt very brave jumping. I always made sure i waited until everyone else had jumped before i had a second go or even the first go, (mainly so there were less people around to see me make a fool of myself!!)
Luckily hunting has made her a lot more confident jumping and touch wood she hasnt stopped for a long time.

Yes I have seen a few stop but not many. Most of the time they are so full of adrenaline and there instincts are to stay in a herd that they will jump most things!
