My 4 year old is out during the day, from 7am to 5.30pm and stabled at night. There isn't much grass in the field at all, he is turned out with a herd of geldings and plays more then he does graze anyway! When stabled at night he was given two large haynets. At the beginning of winter (November) he was completely polishing off both nets. But now seems to be eating less and less. I now only give him one haynet as he leaves so much and he barely eats half of it. He hasn't noticeable dropped any weight yet though. They hay I feed is all cut off the same field. Is this something to worry about?

Yes I could try him on haylage, good idea. I believe the hay is of decent quality. You are only allowed to buy the yard owners hay as he grows his own. Can't buy outside the yard!
