Hi all
Just wondering what type of container you store your soaked grass nuts in. We’ve tried a bucket with feed cover on but feed gets mouldy and we’ve tried putting in a feed bin but flies manage to get in ??‍♀️ Thanks

I soak in the morning for feeding the next morning, using an open bucket. They've never gone mouldy or fermented.

Grassnuts don't need to be soaked like sugar beet, you can just add water a few minutes before you are ready to feed. We used to get the feeds ready, go and bring the horses in and then feed, the grassnuts would have absorbed the water and swelled up.
Now we are feeding Agrobs Wiesencobs, which just need to be dampened.

Which ones did you use? i have the Dengie ones, and they take a good couple of hours to soak. Really annoying when I forget to do hem in the morning!

Me too. I hate running for the kettle to try to make them do quicker because I forgot!

I use emerald green and soak the next lot when I am making feeds up, i.e. soak the morning feed when making evening feed, and soak evening feed when making morning feeds. I leave them in an open bucket in a metal bin.

I feed Weisencobs (Agrobs) and they're soaked in 10 minutes. I just make the feeds up and add the water, before going off to do another chore. If the horses are up at the shelter I give them some hay to shut them up!

I add to feed and add water wait 10 minutes for the pink mash to soak add chaff and feed, you can feed emerald green without soaking I think but had a pony choke on pony nuts so now soak all nuts

I make them up with warm water, wait 20 minutes and they're ready. I don't like leaving soaked feed for any longer than necessary
