Is it ok to do this? We've bought quite a lot of hay in early this year, and we decided we would store a load in my trailer. ( I wont need to use it through winter)

But mum just asked me about whether it will be ok becuase its all shut up in there so not much air :S

Is it ok in there do you think?

Most people stick hay in their trailers on my yard. As long as it's not straight off the field and therefore still a bit damp, it should be fine. All hay will eventually go dusty IME.

SM: :O :O :O !!! Thats bad! I hope that doesnt happen. It shouldnt do from where it is.

The hay barn is quite small so I cant store that many bales in it, so just planning to take sort of 6 or 7 out of the trailer at a time. With 2 horses they wont last that long so shouldnt get dusty :)
Mum was worried they'd turn to haylage. but I suppose they cant do that unless wrapped up ? I hope.

Don't stack it too tightly - there will be condensation and it needs to breathe. Open it up now and again on nice days.

We stacked 70 bales in two stables too tightly and left them all winter "for emergencies" and when we came to use it it had all gone musty and we had to chuck it...:(:(

Personally I would use the trailer as a short term store and use somewhere a bit better for long term storage.
