Hi just wondered what people's thoughts were with the so called storm coming, been reading on other sites people think their horses will be safer outside incase something happens to the stable, mine is living out at the mo but does have a stable, some horses at my yard have no choice as have no stable. Wasn't sure what to do, I don't usually worry but this hype is making me worry!!!

5 out of 6 out the other will be in as he has gone and got an abcess but i would have had him in anyway as he is a sickly boy, quite thin terrible doer bless him.

Aww I don't blame you for keeping him in. I'm sure it will all be ok, hadn't really thought about it until
I went on another forum and read what others were saying.

All out, they live out 365 days a year, but if stabled they would be out anyway, its one night and Id rather they were in a field than a stable that may come down

Mine will be in mostly because his fieldmate is being kept in that night and partly because the field he's in has no shelter. If he was in a field with good natural shelter and other horses were out then he would be out.

im debating this too. mine have been coming in at night for a few weeks now due to being clipped and the other is old and fragile (plus he thinks he is glued to my other horse even though turned out with others!) im thinking i might chuck a thicker rug on and leave them out though as i dont want to risk the stables collapsing on them even though they are sturdy built, you never know how bad it might get. they wont be happy about staying out as they like their home comforts but id rather them be safe and able to move out of harms way if needed. dreading dragging my old boy back out after his feed!

Mine is in really hope I made the right decision, such a flighty fine pony I have, people will be up the yard all night, I won't sleep, hope everyone's horses will be ok!

In, and they normally live out 24/7 through -13 and snow ! I just hate the thought of them in heavy winds and rain with trees potentially falling down etc. Ground is too slippy for spooking and running around. Its not even meant to hit that bad where I am but for the sake of slightly p*ssed off horses and mucking out in the morning, it isn't worth the risk.

In last night and tonight, the weather yesterday was awful and is due to be worse tonight. After watching them yesterday I don't trust them out, they hate the wind and were so grateful to come in last night, I don't want them spooking at cracking branches, not to mention the state of the ground underfoot which is slippy as hell after all the rain, injuries likely if they start charging around. I also don't trust fallen trees not to bring down boundary fences and them get out. I hope I have made the right decision as their stables are solid as anything, but it will still be a sleepless night. I just hope whatever each person decides all our horses have a safe night.
