Rain and 60mph to make a change this week. I really need to get some wheels so I can do an arena hire during the week rather than relying on the weekend. Monday looks ok though so will try and hack out.

Mr sel (golf player) & I were just moaning about this. Our weekends are usually golf & horses so we're both sulking.

Saturday looks like a day for puttng up the Xmas tree rather than hacking.

Hacking and perhaps playing with the kids if the weather is conducive to having them out in the arena.
Also planning to go to the Christmas fayre in the cathedral on Saturday and looks to be a good day to hide inside!

I'd entered a stressless dressage at a venue just down the road on the 4 year old, but I won't be taking him now. I won't drive the box in 59 mph gusts that are forecast and the warmup is outdoors. Torrential rain and gale force winds are so not conducive to giving the baby a good experience! I think I might be Christmas shopping on Amazon instead.

I'm supposed to be having a lesson tomorrow, it looks like perhaps a break in the bad weather having been really awful here today then forecast for strong winds again Saturday and Sunday.

I've just cancelled our booking at the secure dog field for Sunday otherwise we'll have a repeat performance of last week:

I'm going to London Saturday early for a wedding and won't be back until late Sunday I don't know what to do with the horses for the best, I have someone looking after them and step daughter is staying at home with the dogs but she doesn't do the horses she just keeps an eye on them.

I might have to just see how my friend thinks it will be and let her decide what to do for them for the best.

Got a clinic at an indoor tonight. No wind as yet, but it is a 3.9 tonne van that is a playform cab so quite close to the ground as the horse stands between the wheels. It has felt quite stable in winds. That said, it is over an hour each way so I will see if the wind has built up too much this evening.

Pony is just coming back into work so had planned on in-hand hacking to re-build fitness both days and he's due to have a reiki and body work session.

Our immediate hacking is exposed farmland and woodland so not sure that will be a go-er in the wind 🤣 I've messaged equine body worker to say I'm happy to re-book if they don't want to travel in week.

Instead, pony is due to come in at night this weekend so de-cobwebbing his stable & setting up a new bed might be the horsey highlight.

Gust speed looking to drop to 30-ish by Sunday afternoon here so I might fit in a hack or we can go for a walk in hand I suppose. Saturday is a complete write-off. Will be exciting enough driving to/from the yard in a Ford Fiesta that feels like a tin can at the best of times.

Oh blimey we've been upgraded to a Red weather warning tomorrow morning so definitely not going anywhere. A day of cooking and crap Christmas films I think!

My lesson today was really wonderful. We ditched the test riding, did loads in walk. I'm getting a better feeling for effective leg aids so we had our best walk work yet. And some great trot work with huge smiles from me and no fear! It's been another very 'lifey' week but tears of happiness at the end of my lesson this time.

Our summer weather has arrived! 36c today and tomorrow and 40 forecast for the week. I’m not ready to be that hot yet!

We have a dressage comp tomorrow, only the second lot of tests we have ridden this year. Have low expectations, I’ve lifted my expectations so some of our work has got a bit worse before it can get better, as always seems to happen when I try and install new buttons!

My indoor clinic was cancelled pre-emptively in case of bad roads. Of course, the roads are fine and I'd be loading up to come home round about now. Also of course, I didn't hack because convinced mysekf the roads might bad. The gusts are impressive but the rain is only just arriving in the South East and only as a trickloe. Now I don't feel like riding at all. It's 9am and I feel the day is over and time to go to bed lol. Horses are enjoying some extra hay and then they can go back out into the field until tomorrow. I think winter blues has really affected me too as lately any excuse makes me Not Ride. I have not got an arena and I frequently blame fear of the roads for not riding, so maybe I really am developing a fear of the roads.

Picked two of boys up from bootcamp on Thursday so have spent the last two days figuring out the buttons again.

Jack is at Morris Wednesday for a last-ditch attempt at getting those final regionals points so we’ll be learning tests as I’ve not managed to run them yet 😅
