For those of you who have horses out 24/7 how do you cope with this awful weather? We have a field shelter but more often than not he will not use it! Is it just us humans that worry about our ponies I wonder! Roll on spring!

Mine are out 24/7 and are fine. The stables are open to the field so they can go in if they want but they seldom do. They tend to stand behind the stone walls surrounding the field to get out of the wind. I do find poo picking more of a challenge though and it makes it harder to do stuff with them as it makes them spooky. I will be glad when it gets a bit calmer.

Mine get turned out for the night.
Currently they are in overnight, but we have huge trees behind the yard. If the forecast is for the wind to blow the trees towards the yard, I will turn them out. Tiny Fuzzy would rather be out in a storm than shut in anyway :)

Mine have a shelter, and I've opened up a 5 acre bit of field with hedges on three sides and loads of grass. They haven't even noticed the weather!

Mine have a 5* bed of straw, at least by Exmoor standards, in the shelter, on mats. They use it all the time. As a result I don't worry about them. They have lightweight no fills on and I thus think they're pretty spoilt for Exmoors. I walk the fence back every night in lieu of hay et voilà. Happee ponees.
