Strained extensor tendon!?

My pony has managed to do this! Has anyone else had this happen or know of it? My vet said he had never seen one before!
I know its not a huge issue because they can compensate without them but i can't believe she has managed to do it!-She's roughed off in the field!
 
Was never lame (happened about a week ago) just 5 times the size it should be! Had a bit of heat in it to start with but has never been sore to touch.
 
The broodmare I had on loan had a ruptured extensor tendon after a kick...but it was a really severe case and she wasn't worked.
Presumably it would heal in the same way the SDFT would...probably better as it isn't prone to such weight bearing?
What does your vet say to do?

I can put some DMSO on it but apart from that not a lot can be done! Just need to keep an eye on it for swelling and heat etc
