Bit of background - had my girlies back checked two weeks ago, by vet respected chiro (routine 4 monthly visit), she found slight soreness in her "right quarter", had some treatment, two days off, two days hacking in straight lines (as set out by the chiro). Third day gentle schooling, worked beautifully.
Since then been working fantastically well, slightly "opinionated" when asking for her to really work round my left leg (shoulder-in, 10m canter circles into leg yield etc) but then buckled down and did some great work and even went on to do some beautiful extension work last Saturday in my lesson.
She lives in at night, out in the day. I didnt turn her out on Wednesday got to the yard to bring her in for my lesson, tacked her up, all seemed fine, got on walked to the school all seemed fine, walked round school popped into trot bam lame on left hind. Got off took her into the field trotted her up seemed 90% sound.
Decided to put her on box rest, called vet for advice and was told if lame on soft but sounder on hard ground likely to be tendon, ligament or sprain/strained muscle. Felt round all legs hard and cold (except for wingalls which she has always had).
Just sooo confused - would have thought there would be some swelling or heat??
Only thing i can think is a slip/stumble in the field or stable?
Any ideas - only thing to see on her legs are tiny inch long lines of hair loss in diagonal lines - v faint and all but one with no blood just hair loss - could she have been cast?
Lost my boy 1st August last year (bone spavins and arthritis in the spine - only 5) and am panicing
Sorry for the long post x
PS had new set of shoes a week ago today - no sign of hoof pain.
