I noticed last night that P appears to be molting

is that a bit strange for this time of year??? Now he has a thick coat, well a fluffy coat anyway so much so that last year I clipped him in the sumer as he was just too hot when competing. As he is showing this year, this is not really an option, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of this?

His last full clip was at the end of March/beg of April???

One of my horses is moutling. If he is out without a rug, especially if he is out 24/7, then I would say this is normal. I think they grow their coats back a little with the rain and cold weather we have been having, then moult again. It's probably because the weather is so interchangeable this time of year

Thats what I was thinking, he is stabled with a summersheet at night, but one minute its thunderstorms here and the next its 20 degrees, I'll put it down to the weather so!

Thanks

Diva has continually moulted since the spring too! Not quite sure what is going on - the weather has been a bit weird but I thought horses usually rely on daylight hours as a guide to grow or lose their coats...

We are seeing odd patterns of moulting on the yard too. Doesnt seem to equate to rugging, clipping or anything much!

The ones with less tb blood seem to be doing more of it though so maybe its just down to the temps going up and down so rapidly.
