Hi
As many of you may be aware, my poor chestnut boy went massively lame in December, with massive trauma to his fetlock joint and damage to the cartilage, and is still lame. For the past couple of days his gait has changed and he is now lifting his off hind leg (the one he is lame on) considerably higher than the other one to the point that the hoof is almost level with his hock as he is walking along. I have not seen a horse walk like this before and was wondering if anyone had any experience of it or any ideas? I suspect that it may be a compensatory reaction but it is very strange to see
He is next seeing the vet next Monday, but was hoping that someone may have some ideas before then.
Thanks for any ideas. Jaffa cakes on offer x
