Strange goings on: sellers that don't exist!

Today I have had two people knock on the door, with detailed instructions of how to find the yard - to see horses advertised "free to a good home" on Freeads.

However - its certainly not me advertising!

Both have come over 100+ miles, taken a day out to do so. both had communicated with the "seller" - said she was a well spoken woman, who had 19 horses and had to cut down as pregnant. They both told the same story, one was here to see a TB and the other a shetland.

Funnily enough (!) - the phone number they had was not answered today... and they each had a different phone number but had clearly spoken to the same person.

This is quite a close knit horsey area, within a square mile we have myself a riding school, a busy well known dealer and a huge livery yard - and speaking to the owners of the other two yards no one knew of anyone called C**** who owned that many horses around here!

Its a complete mystery - why on earth would you advertise, communicate with would be buyers, and then allow them to travel for hours if you don't exist? The poor lady who knocked on my door half an hour ago had two heartbroken kiddies with her, having travelled nearly 3 hours to see a shetland that never was!

If anyone is thinking of viewing horses advertised free to a good home on the freeads.co.uk website (and are about to be sent to a North West Leics town!) , PM me for the name of the person who posts the ads as I can caution you to maybe not waste a journey - I' feel like the timewaster myself having to tell these poor people that actually, they have been scammed!!

that is odd! My friend who is a breeder regularly finds ads for her stallion stating he is for sale, with made up names and background with her pics on it. Those are out to con gullible people out of a few grand, but I cannot work out the 'free to good home' ones.

I read this to Mr B and he hopes that they haven't been lured away from their homes under false pretences and then burgled, having had their phone numbers traced :-(

Would be interesting to know if they were asked for their addresses?

One had travelled from Birmingham, and the other Leeds -that was a thought of mine had they been local people, you hope that with them being so far apart it might not have been the case.
