Got to the yard this evening after work and my horses hind leg is swollen a lot more than the other with pulse, he has been on rest as he has been lame reason unknown on this leg. I called the vet (as this morning he holding his leg up more than usual) by the time the vet came his leg had gone down. Why does this happen!?? Felt rather silly!
His leg keeps swelling intermittently, yesterday he had heat in the hoof too but today he has none.
The vet is thinking maybe PSD...... he does have slight changes in this hock but this medicated with good success and has regular physio. He has been rested for three weeks now and I feel he isn't getting any better. He doesn't respond to Flexion in his leg. He is as lame on a straight as a circle. He points he toes underneath him and hold his leg up. His leg is swollen from the hock to the hoof with all the blood vessels up. He isn't responding to hoof testers.
He is going for further tests next week. It's all very strange and I haven't seen anything like this before....
