Farrier came today. He was trimming Arch as I took C back to the field. I got back to the yard and he said "I don't want to worry you but one of Archie's hooves has got a white patch on it. I've never seen anything like it before, I'm a bit concerned." I rushed over in bit of a panic (I mean if the farrier hasn't seen it before, it must be bad, right?) dreading another vet bill, looked his hoof and burst out laughing. It was Filtabac - we put it on his nose as sun cream and he'd obviously rubbed his nose on his hoof. With the uneven surface on his hoof it had got into the little grooves and wouldn't wipe off when farrier was rubbing at it. Luckily he saw the funny side.

My life would certainly be easier without the big white oaf but it would be far far less enjoyable too!
