Sorry for the random post!
I have a very hyper dalmation who despite 2 1hr walks a day is still full of beans! My mum has been watching the dog whisperer and he suggests roller blading with high energy dogs. Has anyone tried this? I think it would work in theory but I can't see the dog not running off with me or me falling over and looking like an idiot! Any other suggestions would be greatfully received!

I do it with my pack of mutts and they lOOOOOVE it.
Have a halti on the dog o you have more control over stopping.
When i want to stop i just turn to the side so i get some pull back and then can stop the dogs.
Although mine are now so use to it they know when to stop.
Maybe find a carpark or somewhere to try first.

Running him off a bike would also work. You would maybe need to work on his heelwork to make sure he doesn't drag you.

I know some people might baulk at this but friends of ours had a very hyper bitch and they took her to remote areas (forest parks, country roads, mountains) and run her out of the car, off lead.

Might he need a 'job'? Could you get into agility or some other discipline? I take mine to training on a Sunday and he always comes back knackered, combines basic obedience, agility and low level manwork.

Car park or something would be a good idea! Thank you for that I will try and get him a halti or something then as he is quite strong.

I have been tempted to run him beside my car more than once! He did do training up until a fortnight ago but it only really tired him out for the morning then he was nutty again all afternoon. Would love to try agility but he is very tall so I think he would struggle.

He is lovely really just always on the go but once you get to about 8pm he is flat out fast asleep until 7 next morning! I will look into trying that then I just thought I would look a bit out of place against all the collies he would rather stick out bless!

I don't like car exercise, you'll probably just train up his endurance and after a while you'll be just driving a little faster, just a little longer...

I'm all for the backpack and roller skates idea, you'll be able to interact with him and he'll be forced to use his brain as well as getting more physical exercise.

Good luck.
