A livery has noticed that her horses has developed roaning on her horses back, a little back from her withers. She has had the saddler out to the horse but saddle fits and tree points dont seem to be causing the issues. Saddler spent three hours, several saddle changes (including gullets) and couldnt find anything wrong with the saddle.
The horse has also lost hair and has sores on the top of its withers further up than the saddle would sit unless it was going up the poor horses neck. Horse has been wearing a fly rug and on wet day wearing a lightweight waterproof over the top. Could the rugs be causing any of this as she even had the back lady out (reiki/massage) and she found some tightness around the withers (thinks its the sores) but no actual pain on the horses back.
Livery rides the horse about 3 times a week (bit of everything) and has just noticed this in the past week. Any ideas?
