Hello,

I came across this while clipping my horse this year. He has two of these, they are patches, around 50p size or less, one on his hock, another on the ankle, both hind feet. They are invisible when he has a coat but when you clip, he feels uncomfortable over them and they become more apparent. They look as if like there were a lot of white-ish, wooden splinters coming out of the coat. Although they definitely aren't splinters, they have been around for a few months now. There's no heat, no swelling... Any ideas of what can it be? Should I be worried?

Thanks loads!

Hi, can i ask how old your horse is as i have seen this before, both times on horses with cushings.
I hope this is not the case with your horse.

Could be where he's got cast or slightly knocked himself in thhe stable? But also have seen horses with either cushings or really bad mud fever that hasn't fully recovered.

will try to get some pics! he's 6, so hopefully an unlikely case for cushings... I've had him for 1.5 years and he never showed mud fever symptoms either!
