Morning :)

Yesterday eve I hacked my mare out around the local housing estate. About 5 minutes before we finished, we were having a trot and she suddenly started limping. I got off and check all 4 hooves to see if she perhaps had a stone, glass etc stuck in one of her frogs and nothing. No heat or swelling either. So I got back on and remained in walk til I got back to the yard. Once I was back I gave her a closer inspection and still couldn't find any heat or swelling etc. Asked one of the liverys to trot her up and she was fine. Then I trotted her up for the other livery and other livery said she alos looked fine. what does it sound like to you? Perhaps she did step on something painful and it had fallen out before I got off?

Is it possible she might have twisted something?

If shes sound today and theres still no sign of damage then I would probably put it down to her either pulling something or standing on something and thinking "Ouch!" for a few seconds. I was troting my gelding through a bunch of raised troting poles one day and he started limping. I hopped straight off, checked feet which i found nothing so troted him up outside the school and he was sound, lunged in the middle of the yard and he was still sound so i got back on and continued. I put it down to him pulling something as he was perfectly normal after a few minutes.

I think you are right. About a minute before I trotted her, we passed a huge AA lorry with a car on the back which was making a right rackett. She did go past but went sideways past it with her head bent right round  we got passed just as the lorry began to lower the car. Which is why I started trotting as I wanted to get away from it. No sooner had I asked for trot and the limping begun. She looked fine in the field this morning. But I will lighlty lunge her later to look again.

Thank you :)
