My mare came in from the field on Friday and I noticed that the inside of her left fore was swollen pretty much from the knee to the fetlock. It is the inside only and there isn't really any noticeable heat or any sign of trauma. There is no swelling on outside of leg or back of leg. She presents no sign of lameness. I have cold hosed her twice a day and it has gone down slightly but it still noticeably swollen. Does anyone have any ideas? Not sure what to do given she is not lame!

is she in or out? if in might put out and see if goes down or even walk her for 20 min to see if it goes down. probalbly knocked herself ? or might even be a splint forming they are not always lame?

Thanks loopylucifer. I turned her out today and yesterday. I will take her for a walk this afternoon and see what happens. If its a splint do I need to rest her or is it ok to keep riding?

Sounds like a splint. They usually settle down eventually without causing too much trouble but I'd keep an eye on it for a few days just in case it's more serious and might need x-rays.
