Ponio is poorly but not quite sure whats going on...
Saturday comes in from the field covered in hives, vet gives cortisone injection, assumption is allergy, all vitals normal, slight decreased gut action but passing droppings so not too worried.
Over night horse doesn't eat a lot, and doesn't drink at all
Sunday morning, very perky, eats brekkie fine, drags me to field, out in field all day. Come about lunchtime lies down (first time in five years ever has in field) for about 40 mins, then gets up, grazes for 10 mins, then stands with nose about foot from floor fast asleep for hours, then grazes a bit.
Comes in, ignores hay, ignores water, miserable as sin, nose literally on floor, tender right hand side but passing droppings, vet thinks mild colic and gives buscopan and fenidine (spelling!?) also takes bloods and queries liver problem. Horse remains very lethargic and depressed - not like her at all. Vitals normal except laboured breathing.
This morning, perky to go out to field, not eaten or drunk much overnight, grazes for a bit then resumes the depressed position, absolutely exhausted and can't keep eyes open
Bloods will be back tomorrow, just wondered if any of that sounded familiar to anyone? Hate to see pony so miserable
and she hasnt done enough recently to warrant just sheer exhaustion!?
