strangest thing happened when i tacked up saturday.

i tacked grace up on saturday as normal, she was tied up on the yard with her front boots on, saddle on and still in her head collar, i walked out with her bridle to see her on her knees on the yard. she was down for about 30 seconds then she got back up and stood like nothing had happened. luckily she was tied fairly loose so she didnt pull and panick. her girth wasnt tight at all. iv noticed when i tack her up that she tighten up across her back and almost humps it, she does the same with a roller to. she is fine after being walked and fine to get on. any ideas??
 
sounds like she may have a sore back, have you had it checked recently? And when was the last time you had the saddle fit checked?
 
iv only had her just over a month and she has only been in work for 3 weeks, she has been off since october last year. she will get her back done when shes out to do my tb. shes not sore when you palpate the area. my tb is cold back but putting the saddle on does not affect him its when you get on him, so could she be cold backed?? she is having her saddle done next month, when i brought her into work she only had a roller on and did it with the roller, that was before she even had a saddle on.

absolutley fine. doesnt bat an eyelid. my tb is cold backed and he buckles underneath you when you get on him but that is the only cold back horse iv had so havnt seen other signs of cold backed. once she has been walked she is fine and you can do her girth up normaly.
 
have to agree with others and say get the back checked, it could be a sign of her being cold backed! a friends mare fell if you stretched her front legs after having the girth done up. it could be the same kind of thing! xx
