It would appear that there may be a few cases around - we have one and he has not been off our land for over 2 months along with my other 2. I have been told that a couple of large livery yards may have 'poorly' horses but that things are being kept quiet and other horses are out and about as usual.

Be vigilant if you are in this area, especially if you compete. My poor chap has had no contact with horses ouside so I can only wonder how he got it!

I am planning on going out nearer the end of the month to compete in Tenterden.I am guessing from your user name you are talking Dover area. Which side of Dover are you talking of though? I have friends in Alkham valley,Elham and also out at Barville farm way. I presume if your on a livery yard that perhaps another horse who has come in to your yard recently could be a carrier

You location guess is spot on - quite near Barville but we are a private yard hence mystified how one picked it up. The only possibility is horses being ridden on land next to my fields (which they are no supposed to do!!) and having contact that way. Gossip is always rife and I have had several calls today saying that it is about and being hushed up. In my view that is pretty awful, but I am not a business....
