I have heard that Longwood EC has got confirmed strangles.
**************************************************
This is not a scare munger post, just my personal opinion....
Therefore I'd like to make it aware to all riders to be on their guard as I dare say the majority of those that competed there last weekend will be attending Norton Heath this weekend.
Having had strangles in one of my horses before (and a pony on the yard that had been caught whilst at a show) i can safely say I will not be attending Norton Heath due to the high risk and the fact that last weekend it wasnt confirmed so people will have not know that the bacteria was there. Remember that this nasty killer diesease takes approx 14days to show signs!!!

I will post this in the New Lounge as well for max. coverage.

This rumour has been going around for a while........however, last weekend I spoke to Longwood manager and three local vets practices - all have confirmed Longwood are clear.
Whether this means they will remain clear, I don't know, but at the moment there have been no horses testing positive at Longwood.
According to my vet, in the past Longwood have been good at adhering to quarantine and cancelling shows when infection is present.

There are a number of yards in the area that have been confirmed with strangles, but to my knowledge, they're not yards that hold comps.

That is good to hear, i still do worry about peoples ignorace to this infection and how may people have been out whilst infected. However i do know we cant all live on "what ifs"
