Strangles Test Dilemma

I'm hoping some of you may be able to help with a recent strangles test, the new Equi Strep, not ELISA.

I purchased a horse recently who has had two tests as the first was higher than the cut off, but the second has also come back higher (only just above the cut off) but has reduced significantly from the first test.

Has anyone had this type of scenario and what did you do next?

A retest of bloods has been suggested but I don't have more time to continue down this path, even though its likely to come back below the cut off if it continues to drop in the curve it has. Covid19 has made for a difficult time in getting bloods to the lab etc...

Is gutteral pouch wash the next move or do the falling titers suggest no infection and not a carrier? Looking at the breeding programmes of many leading establishments, it's suggests if a mare has an above the cut off result but the subsequent test comes back with falling titers, then they're okay to breed naturally etc

This is also suggested in vet medical journals I've read.

Any advice is greatly welcomed.

Also, does anyone know the approx cost of a gutteral pouch wash?

I paid £360 last year for a guttural pouch wash at my yard. I cannot for the life of me remember what test she had before, but it was only one test. I knew the horse had had strangles two years previously so I think that had a bearing on what was done.

Thank you! I know full history and know they haven't had it etc so I'm thinking maybe traveling up to our home they've come in to contact.

Who knows!
