The problem is if a horse tested positive on blood test 5 months ago than your horse probably was exposed to it. Nobody will take you into a new yard with a positive blood test though so you’re screwed and they will go mad if they find out .
The problem is that the majority of horses haven't even been tested , I only did mine so I could move with clear conscience. So first we had total hysteria - although not a single horse had symptoms, they just had elevated blood test results- now it's gone to a totally blasè approach.
Apparently it is rare for a non-symptomatic carrier to infect a yard full of horses and all this blood test does is create hysteria ,.unnecessary stress and cost. So in the future , I won't be testing mine again.
