Strangles

Just had a random thought.!!
can horses who have had strangles get it again?

I have not known any horse with it to catch it again so maybe they build up immunity to it after they have fought it off once

My old cob caught it twice, but the second time was much less severe, more just like a bit of a virus than fill blown strangles, they do build an immunity to it....

Yes they can but probably only after a gap of several years

As above poster said, yes, they can get it twice but its usually a gap of a few years for the immunity to have broken down somewhat.

Some seem to get a lifetime immunity to it, others less so.
