Does anyone know if horses can catch strangles more than once or if when they have had it they are immuned to getting it again?

i think i was told most would develop an immunity that would be fairly effective for around five years. some remain silent carriers and some i think mainly those treated with penicillin early on may develop very little immunity but thoughts do appear to vary.

They are immune, but only until the bacturium has mutated beyond recognition of the immune system. Mine had it as a 5yo and as a 12yo, so definitely not inifinite immunity!
