I put my mare out on Tuesday, brought her in that night. Thursday I noticed what I thought were Grass Glands? However they are not going down, and she has slight nasal discharge (when she snorts, a fair amount droplets come out). Temp is 37.5 c and she’s in great form and not off her food or anything..

She has a lot of other allergy related issues (heaves, sweet itch) so hoping it’s something like that and not strangles? Is it possible it’s still grass glands even after this time and the nasal discharge is related to the heaves? Help…

She's isolated, UTD on vaccines.
I’ve texted the vet photos, and since she has no temp and is still in good form, he thinks maybe guttural pouch tympany. He says (unless symptoms worsen) give her 48hrs grazing and if there’s no improvement he’s coming out to see her…

Ok, its absolutely no different. After a LOT of googling, I’d be v surprised if it was strangles. She’s still in great form, swelling is in the wrong place, and even if it was, (apparently) temp and snot come first 🤷‍♀️

I’m actually quite convinced it’s her parotid glands, it really seems to fit. There’s a few oak leaves in the field, we ran out of haylage for a day so she was fed chop then put back on haylage. Plenty of reasons that could have caused it. Only why is it not going down??????

Vet is hopefully coming out on Friday…
