As the title says really. I was digging through a chest of my mum's old horsey stuff & found a strapping pad (I have got the right thing, a leather pad about the size of a biggish body brush, yeah? lol) & my mum mentioned in passing that it would be a good thing for my competition pony, but as I can't get her to go to the yard or discuss the horses atm I have no one to explain/show me! Any explanations would be great :) Even though I probs won't do it for fear of getting it wrong lol xx

it's easy to show and difficult to explain. you bang it (softly at first, but harder once they are used to it) on certain muscles (never on bone) to get them to tense up, repeatedly. supposed to build up topline etc, but tbh i think good correct work does that...
i've done a lot of it (we had to groom and strap every horse every afternoon when i worked at an event yard) and not found many horses that enjoy it, i must admit.
if i can get my trust videoer to work tomorrow, i'll get him to vid me strapping one, and stick it on youtube, if you haven't found a vid by then...

ahh thankyou :) that's more or less what I thoughht it was, but wasn't sure what points you would use. I'm not sure I would do it with my Alf though as he doesn't generally relax with things like that but I always like to feel informed lol :) xxxx
