Straw Based Bedding?

Does it have to be starw or are you looking for other options?

Chop Straw is esy to muck out and good value

or a nice bedding which I used to have a pony on and was quiet nice in regards to lack of dust and easy to much out is Aubiose which is hemp

hemp is completly natural, as below from web site

DISPOSAL: Because Aubiose is so absorbent, there will be less material removed from the stable, thus reducing the area needed for muck storage. Aubiose is made from young plants, and will break down rapidly to form a very valuable compost.

I use chopped rape straw. I have my muck heap taken away about this time each year by some guys with an allotment - they have just come back and its like black gold - and I didn't start adding to it until Nov last year so rots down really well and really quickly.

Only down side I find is as a bedding material you cant get really pristine clean looking beds as it goes a bit of a funny light brown colour even though its still 'clean'!

After using LWP for the last few years, I've just had a delivery of straw pellets to try.

I'll be bedding down on them tomorrow night for the first time and will take pics and give a report on here on how I find them.
