Ive never done a straw bed before. I changed yards and this seems to be the norm . I am struggling . I start with a big bed and the next morning its so wet I almost have to take it all out again. She didnt seem that bad with shavings. Some are suggesting deep littering ? Does this mean leaving it wet then ? Getting quite stressed as what seemed a cheaper option doesnt seem to be working.
some of them are trying mixed beds, but that doesn't seem to work wither.

Hi,

Is she on concrete or rubber mats? My mare is on straw and her stable is rubber matted. She still has a lovey thick bed. I put some shavings down in the places she wees, as she wees in the same spot. This soaks up the wee and her bed isn't too wet. It gets taken out everyday and seems to work, so that could be an option? I usually go through 2 bales of shavings a month with my mare but I have notice a huge difference since doing this.

Deep littering is where you take the poo out and leave the wet. I personally don't like this, but it is personal preference.
