Straw muck heaps....

Can anyone advise me on how long they take to rot down?

I have a large trailer where I normally put the muck, but as the ground is so wet am reluctant to have a tractor in to empty it, so was considering a muck heap in the meantime.

We make a muck heap in a corner of our winter field if we can't get to our usual site. Usually if we get bad snow. We find that in 12 months it completely disappears. this is only for 3 horses thus far and is for straw manure. The longest period we did this for was about 3 weeks.
