Straw

Oscar is on box rest atm he has half bale of hay a day but is eatting his bedding also. I dont mind him eatting it as beleive straw is ok in small quantities but which straw is safest?
Oat, Wheat or Barely?

Oat is the best straw for feeding We have some rather good doers and we mix hay with straw for them in the winter, about 1/3 staw to 2/3rds hay and use oat straw if we can get it.

Oat straw is great for feeding to good doers, but it's not easy to come by these days. I'd really like to get some to feed my podgy ponies but I have real difficulty in finding it.

I am having trouble finding straw full stop atm everywhere out!! Have found some wheat straw is this a good idea? He isnt having it in haynets but i know he does eat it!!
