Just a little background for you. My mare was jumping to the right over fences, a month earlier she seemed to bang her head in the stable as window panels were missing and she was acting odd. Got vet and he said she was fine!

So got physio 2 weeks ago and she said her left side (mainly neck) was in spasm and quite bad. Which would of caused the jumping pro. Also she was sore behind the saddle on both sides.
She had 3 days off following the treatment.
For the next few days she felt fine, walking out nice and relaxed, and moving much looser.
After that she seemed to want to stretch her head down after about 15 mins of work. She also did this whilst leading her to the field? In herself she was quieter, didnt gallop off when turned out ect.
Physio came and did another session yesterday, and her neck was much better but back sore in same place again. We explained about the stretching down, and we are all abit stumped as to why she would be doing it?
Her saddle is getting checked on the 29th feb, so till then we are going to lunge in the pessoa.

So has anyone got any ideas as to why shes doing this? I am hopeing it is the saddle, otherwise physio didnt seem to have an answer. Hopeing its nothing more serious? Also is there any chance of it being habit?

Thanks.

dont know how much help i can be but is it maybe because her neck will feel different now or maybe she couldnt stretch it properly in that way before so it seems odd to you seeing her doing it now? im just guessing really!

Wonder if she is trying to strech her back, could be barking up the wrong tree, but would have thought it was a good sign not a bad one as I would love to my horse to stretch long and low more often as he had back surgery and it is the best thing for it! Are you sure it isn't a sign she is relaxing in to her work after holding herself together possibly with a bit of tension?

I would agree with the last post it sounds like a good thing .My instructor always ends on stretching excercises .It sounds like your horse is more relaxed and has released some of her pressure.
