When Scout hears us getting up in the morning he starts eating his kennel door. It’s looking a bit moth eaten and I want to give him something to chew on.
Trouble is he is a swallower of everything, and very destructive so it needs to be undestroyable and he will have unfettered access all night so very safe indeed.
Even if one of us tiptoes down to open the kennels he rips a bit off when the back door opens. And when we park the car when we’ve been out. He doesn’t on the whole look stressed out there, he’s calm and quiet, it’s just the yippee times that get to him.
The usual HHO suggestion of having him in the bed instead is not an option. 🤣

Our youngest one has one of these and loves it! https://www.greenandwilds.co.uk/collections/chewroots/products/chewroot-extra-large

They crumble rather than splinter and you can rub pate on if they lose interest (ours hasn't yet! and it's 6 months old)

We had the olive branch one before and this splintered so would personally avoid!
He would definitely swallow bits that came off. Would it be safe for 8 hours chewing? That’s what worries me, leaving them with things.
If he gets a branch he just hoovers it down. 🤦‍♀️.
Perhaps he should sleep in a muzzle 😁

They're tiny when they come off! Moss has eaten half of hers with no ill effects!

She's currently away at the dog trainers so is kennelled with hers (and feeling rather sorry for herself!)

They look freaky! But sort of what I was thinking of.
Would you leave one with your big dog overnight?

The Benebones particularly can look like a turd on the carpet when glimpsed out of the corner of your eye. Yes large dog has free access to these at all times and hasn't eaten one yet, the small one has been working on the end of a Bamboodle and has made it into a sort of shiv, but hasn't managed to get any actual lumps off it.

I’ll order one, got to be cheaper than a new kennel door. Thank you.

My two generally have free access to Benebones and they've been alright. I've also left them with a Kong (there's different levels of Kongs) and a Fenrir Hammer. I bought the Hammer specifically for the Corso and of course she's had little to no interest in it 🙄

Will look, I’ve seen them mentioned on here but tbh I’ve never really had adult dog toys so I don’t think of things I can leave them with.

They have ones specifically designed for safe long term chewing, lifetime replacement guarantee....and a HHOer is the owner (I think?)

Our house is full of toys (Kongs of varying forms, Coffee wood, Antlers (about a million of those!!) and yak chews) without incident, we just toss things when they get battered

Goughnuts have a "lifetime guarantee" but you do still have to pay for the replacement. Not the full cost, but still worth noting. Unless that's changed.

I don't get the Yak chew thing. Mine have obliterated those quickly. Granted, one of mine is a powerful chewer, and the other is just straight up determined if "could be food."

I never leave toys out with the dogs. I was brainwashed from an early age. I don’t think I’ll ever get my head around changing that tbh. But the kennel dogs have their own space and I’m happy for them to have a toy ad lib.

You only pay the postage in the UK. That's a pretty good deal.

Unlike many others, they continue to be replaced, not just once.

I've got a goughnuts ring I could look out and send you. I got too big a one for my dinky spanner really and she's not a chewer really so it's overkill for her
Well that’s very kind and most unexpected. Thank you. That would be great. I’ll pay postage. Am I right they are about £35? Do you want paying?

I got mine Benebones at Christmas and they chewed them into mini peaks quite quickly, they’re very strong chewers. No bits came off but the OH was worried they’d injure their mouths on the spiky bits they created. I don’t think they would, but hey. I wonder if he just needs to bring something so resorts to the door? Mitch has to bring a toy when we appear.

I can't recall how much it was, I don't need paying for it. I'll look it out and weigh it tomorrow as it's pretty solid so I can get an idea of postage costs 😊

That's a good point. Both of mine generally have to greet with something.

It sounds more like a frustration thing not a retrieving thing IMO, my young one and her father do it.

Bionic range is good and there's another one I can't remember the name of but will look. Only things that work for the old dog, he broke XL black Kongs in half and chews metal bowls....
