Well I've gone and done it, I've entered me and rose in our first dressage comp (well actually it's our first comp) I broke her in late summer 09 and have just been takin things slowly. Now I suffer badly with nerves once I've done 1 test I'll be fine but there is a high chance that I might be sick befor doing the first one so has anyone got any tips for staying calm and hopfully not been sick and making a bit of a prat of myself lol

Thanks for that I'll try anything lol I'm fine once I get back into it but haven't been anywhere for about 3 yrs. I got the nickname sicky vicky once for throwing up 6 times at a riding club x country clinic very embarasing lol

Hi, I use beta blockers for situations like this. My heart races and I feel sick and panic, these really calm it down and are safe to be used in this way. My doctor prescribes them.worth a try to see if they suit you.

Learn your test thoroughly and then go for the option of having someone call it out for you. That way you will feel confident that you will not go wrong. Arrive at the venue in good time so you do not feel rushed. Ride to the markers and try to get your circles the correct size. Breathe. Lastly and most importantly ......enjoy.

Funnily enough I don't have problems remembering tests (touch wood) it's just an overwhelming panic that makes me feel/be sick. I'm sure come nxt Monday I'll have a funny story to tell you all if nothing else :D
