Going to see my Consultant.

Hm.

He'll either say that all is well, that I can ditch the back brace in three weeks time, and that I can ride again in December :D

Or, he'll say - back brack on for months longer. No riding for a year.

Am attempting not to stress, but not doing so well.

Ah no dont stress! I know it probably seems like an eternity since you last rode and I know how long broken backs take to heal but do try to be positive :). Im sure you will be back up and about and we will be seeing riding updates from you in no time!

Whatever he says it will be for the right reasons. From what you've said about previous appts with him you're in the best possible hands and he knows his stuff.

You're as tough as old boots though, I'm sure he'll say you'll be back on in December. I'm not going to let you leave the area before we've managed to go for a hack together :)

No point stressing Mrs M, what will be will be. At least your not in a worse position and you know its healing. Hows the plan of life looking? Any developments there?

Hope it goes well tomorrow and treat yourself to a hot choccie - with a little bit of something in it to help you sleep. Good luck x

Thankies all. I'm paranoid because I didn't think it was broken in the first place, so was a bit bamboozled to find out that it was.

And I met someone last week who broke his back, about the same place as mine is. He had a brace on for a while. Now he's in a wheelchair. I almost cried. The thought of never getting back on the Dizzy one.

Sorry. Being melodramatic, but I'm tired and probably a bit overought(sp!). Got another blasted cold so am feeling a bit pathetic.

Oh dear big hugs and tons of positive vibes Mrs M - can only begin to imagine your frustration already without worrying about more time out of the saddle. Hope you manage to sleep tonight and looking forward to your good prognosis thread tomorrow xx

My mum broke her back when I was in my 20s (20yrs ago) and also a flatmate broke her back ten years ago. both suffered soreness for a few years, so be careful, but both don't even think about it nowadays... Just take your time, don't rush things, and let yourself heal..xx

Thank you :)

I'm lying in bed watching and eating Cadbury's Roses...., at least I haven't started on the ones I don't like lol

I've sort of got it in my head that I can survive without riding 'till February - that would give me time to lose some blubber, get the website up and running smoothly, find a new contract, get some ground work things going with the Dizz, but anything longer than that...

I've been eyeing up the Prolite back supports :)

Glad your Mum and friend are okay now H :D

Hey you can always come and join me on the sofa - I'm going to be off until at least Feb too! Just don't bring your choc - I'm fat enough! Wine on the other hand...x We could form a don't hug me too hard it hurts clique!

Will be thinking of you in the morning C will keep my fingers crossed.

Bought a Prolite back support yesterday, havent ridden i it yet, but it did wonders for the waist line, so thinking of wearing it all the time:D

Good luck for tomorrow.
I don't think you're being melodramatic - I kept thinking about your back, while I was suffering from trapped nerve etc and balance-affecting virus - and wondering if they'd read my x-rays right at the hospital - THAT probably was melodramatic!
My old RI broke his back about 50 yrs ago (BEFORE I KNEW HIM, lol) and he has been absolutely fine since being allowed to ride again, he has hunted, shown, broken youngsters etc ever since and is still riding in his 80's - even though he had a stroke a few years ago. I'm sure you'll be fine!

Thank you kindlies :)

Will try not to knaw nails down to elbows. Will perk self up and bounce in (gently), giving him not a chance to say "You're bobbered!".

Hm. Now just have to get to sleep so's I can do The Bounce

Ta hun :D:D :D Excellent plan :D

May I have two sets so's D can't hear either?

As it's tomorrow already I might as well go to sleep, or I'll be late and then I won't get seen and then I'll have to go back another day and then I'll have to go through all this again!:rolleyes:

Sweet dreams y'all :D

Thank you :).

Don't fall over (all those crossed bits!).

Oh sugar, I really do have to go. Typing takes the nervous energy away. Think I'll end up running round in circles or in a tangle heap of brace. Could be funny :)

Right. I'm away.

Thank you again all :D

I've just seen this too Mrs M - and I'm sat in bed (sorry had a LONG day traveling yesterday!) so R&R day today but I'm in stitches about the falling over in the brace comment - do you think it's possible...actually yes!

So why are you buying a prolite back support?!! My stable friends are going to make me ride in my brace when I'm allowed back in the saddle! It does wonders for posture! Plus I'm going to keep it forever, unless the hosp want it back? In the hope that by keeping it, I'll never need it again! Plus in the unlikely event I do, I won't have to wait 8 days lying on my back, for a new one to arrive! What are your plans for yours?

Just think if you have to keep it on for a few more weeks, then at least you can get dressed up for Halloween really easily...just add a few ribs, wear black and you're a skelton! You could even get a copy of your x ray and blow it up on the photocopier for your back!! At least all the stares would be funny then!

As you know, I really do feel your pain re getting back in the saddle, but try and stay positive, remember we really are the lucky ones, compared with some accidents. With any luck we'll look back at this (relatively) short lived misery and be able to laugh about it.

Really positive vibes for you today! xxxxxxxxxx

I am assuming that this is now today. I have to work so can't cross fingers but just palited hair and crossed my legs really tightly for you xxx
