stressing out in the horsebox

does any one elses horse sweat up, meaning dripping when we arrive, in the horsebox? my mare has only been in it twice and is used to trailers but i now have a box and i worry about how stressed she must be to get like that, she is physically shaking before we set off! im a very careful driver and take it really steady, just wondering peoples opinions, im hoping she will get better, should i be traveling her?! suposed to be going xc today and im worrying!

My friends gelding used to sweat every journey, but has got better since being out in the box more (he never shook though).

I would keep travelling her as regularily as possible. Ive had the odd youngster whos dripped with sweat travelling but they've soon got over it. Id just make sure she's topped up with electrolytes, that you have all windows open, dont over-rug her, give her a really sloppy sugar beet feed on arrival (in case she wont drink water, mine dont!) and give her some time when you get there to dry and calm down!

When we first got our box for our big mare, she loaded fine but used to literally drip with sweat. We used to take her out for little journeys as often as possible, didn't rug her up, had all the windows open and put a mirror in for her. She always had a haylage net. When we first started travelling her, she would be sweating by the time we got to the end of our lane but now she travels beautifully - we boxed her over to a friend's recently which was an hour and a half each way and she was as cool as a cucumber.
Out of interest, which way is your horse travelling - if it is herringbone, make sure they have plenty of room.

thanks everyone, its just reassuring to hear other peoples horses do it! she is forwards facing and has loads of room, took her xc this aft and she traveled well, sweaty on the way there but on the way back she was fine! altho she fell over when we were neerli home and has banged her legs but she is fine
