stretching leather boots?

Got a fab pair of Regents of Ebay, they fit fine and are comfy to walk around in. However rode in them at a show today and omg they were like a vice, I thought I was going to get cramp in the ring.
Any advice on getting them stretched (they don't have zips)

A good cobbler will do it for you. They have stretchers and can also suggest a leather softener. Otherwise, hold them over a steaming pan and then wear them around the house.
If they had zips. you could hold them over steam for 10 seconds or so and then stretch the leather, section by section over the back of a chair before wearing while you're pottering about the house.

Robinsons catalogue have 'boot stretchers' for £8 - not sure whether they work/ do a good job though!
