I have a feeling that this topic has been broached before, but I wondered if any of you had any ideas how to stretch the calves of long leather boots.

I have a lovely pair which I've had for 12 years, they've not been heavily used so ideally don't want to replace them. However my calves have changed shape somewhat and they are now too tight around the top.

So does anyone have any suggestions? (apart from buying a new pair).

Many thanks

Take them to a decent saddler and they will do them for you. I had mine done after I'd put on weight and they got another inch of them.

Dont know if this would work, just an idea that came to me when reading your post, but, could they be brought to a shoe maker or saddler and have an elasticated panel put in at the back?

took mine to a good shoe mender and he had them on the stretcher for a week and wear them a lot!! looks a bit kinky walking round the house in long leather boots but hey all horsey women are mad!!

Get the boots on and and climb into a warm bath they will stretch and give dry them out properly and dress the leather.

Really?! Well HOC, if you decide to give this one a go, please be very careful, because if you need to be rescued by the Fire Brigade, it could take a bit of explaining :D

Am glad I came across this I have a brand new pair of cavello boots that I wore twice stopped riding for a bit and now are tight I was going to sell but there may be hope

Get sandwich bags, double them up incase of spillage. Fill with water then pop in the freezer and leave. I left mine for a few days and hey presto stretched boots. :)

When i bought new gaiters, i wore them to bed for 3 nights to stretch them before the weekend! Boyfriend was shocked! Lol x

Woke up at 3am every morning with pins and needles though!! x Worked wonders though x
