Just seen two Welsh section Ds for sale. One ref 257371 is in Wales and looks possible but the one I like best is in Scotland.ref 257223.Apart from a couple of melanomas which obviously would need checking out very thoroughly this sounds like my dream horse.Scotland is some distance from me and they haven't said whereabouts in Scotland.Anyone want to have a look. For me, safety is a very high priority.

He sounds like a perfect first horse for a teenager or small adult who wants to do some RC/PC. I'd be wary of buying for affilated show jumping as the points might cause issues with classes.

What are you looking for other than safety?

The jumping doesn't bother me at all.I just want a nice small .cob (current one who I may have to retire soon is Welsh) for a bit of hacking and fairly low level dressage, maybe a bit of western.I like the fact that he is early middle aged.Don't want a youngster.Guess what I want is one just like my current one.

Haha. See my thread whining about location.

In my recent horse hunt, I enjoyed the ad where the seller just said “North.” Of what?? (I emailed and it turned out to be Yorkshire, which from my point of view was not “north”)

I saw one that said this too! North could be anywhere. It’s frustrating because you’re then deemed a time waster when you say the location isn’t right.

The horse has sarcoids not melanomas, so it depends on your attitude to sarcoids. I'd rather not have them, but they wont stop me buying something otherwise perfect. I'd go and look if I was in the market for that kind of pony and he just grabbed me. But I suspect there will be other similar, probably cheaper ponies closer if jumping isnt your thing :)

sorry got mixed up.Old age.Think sadly at the moment he is too far away and realistically I have a bit too much on my plate at the moment. He just sounded so nice and if he was nearer I might still go and look.

Can I ask for forbearance if I seem very undecided etc.? I have some difficult things to sort out.My husbands health is failing and I don't think I have much more than about 2 years left with him, certainly not mentally.I probably have about 2 more years left (working wise) with current horse.A friend said to me that I don't want to loose both together. It may seem hard but I also have to have a life and in this I am being supported in this by my and his family. On balance I shall continue to look but not rush into anything.Hopefully, when I least expect it the right horse will just come along.

Sounds a very sensible decision to me. I hope your new horse finds you soon!

If you're after a sensible cob, when you're ready, have a look at Emily Chambers in Tewkesbury. She has an excellent reputation and would only be a couple of hours drive for you.
