Hey,
it’s going to be a long one again :D
I put a thread not long ago about my boy lacking hind impulsion. We had the physio coming out (because he was due anyway) which was yesterday, she watched him lunge and said he definitely wasn’t right (not the same movement as she’d seen him before). He was extremely lazy on the lunge, I had to REALLY chase him, which I don’t nornally have to do (he can be quite the loon on the lunge). His gaits are just not what they used to be AT ALL. The physio thought he was striding shorter on his left hind. His back was no worse than she’s seen him before (and he’s never been like this when he’s due physio) so we’re pretty sure it’s not related to that.
She’s going to phone the vet & let him know what she found yesterday... and we’ve got him booked to come out on Wednesday!

I’m trying to think of what it could be. He has no swelling or heat that I can feel anywhere, doesn’t seem sore to touch or palpate.
Could it be hocks, stifles, SI, ligament damage, even ulcers? eurgghh I hate waiting, i just want to know :( the physio did say she doesn’t think it’s SI although he did palpate a little sore over that area. But I know SI is very hard to diagnose etc and that she is only a physio.

Any ideas would be appreciated? People with similar experiences/horse with similar sumptoms? thanks

One of our dales ponies always had a shorted stride with near s hind than off side , she had damage to the tendon / annular ligament. Not easy to spot / find as she had feather

It could be anything but when mine went short on his hind he had damaged his suspensory ligament, he wasn't quite right for a few months before he went lame his back was sore I had the physio out quite a bit in the run up same issue which I think was the start of it, he had no swelling in the area but was slightly sensitive when the vet palpated it.

The vet may say rest and bute for a few weeks but considering his been lacking in performance I think I would be wanting nerve blocks and take it from there.
