striding

could someone help me out?

how many human strides for 1 stride of canter for:

Horse :
Pony:

?? also my pony allways seems to either take off a million miles away from a jump or so far underneath it it feels horrible. Its fine with doubles as i can see and push for a stride or whatever. Its just singles i find it soo hard. Can anyone help me??

from point of landing to point of take off its four human strides. as a rule of thumb you tend to set the stride for horses and let ponies sort themselves out!

Not very good at this BUT if you know what your trottin gpoles would be set out as, you just take every other one away and they magically become canter poles!
