What are the stridings for a pony...am SJing tomorrow and although I have a horse no doubt she will bounce all over the place and have pony strides...is it just 2 steps to a stride? thanks.

Nope 2 steps for landing and 2 steps for take off then 4 for a stride.

A one strided double would be 8 steps. If it is only ponies competiting they may shorten it a bit so its 7 and a bit.

if you are going to be riding a horse, you need to walk everything for horse strides, which are 10-12 ft long (depending on whether you approach in trot or canter!) a 1 stride double will walk 7-8 yards, allowing for landing and take-off.

Ahh okay, thanks. It's an eventers challenge so less likely for lots of ponies to be there.

We will probably approach at a rather fast canter

- I will walk the course and work out stridings, but tbh, it's only 75 and 85cm, and she knows where to put her feet, so she can work out the stridings. thanks.
